EU FLAT TAX REGIME
The Italian Finance Bill for 2017 (hereinafter “Finance Bill”) introduced important provisions to facilitate and attract foreign taxpayers, and wealthy Italian that lived abroad for more than 9 years, to Italy as an charming destination.
The new provisions are represented by a special flat tax for foreign incomes and an inheritance and gift tax exemption.
The rapid disappearance of tax havens and the world economic crises has conviced some countries to take a new direction, especially concerning the tax planning.
The Italian government decided so to establish some strategies to improve foreign investments and to retrieve some foreign investors who could enhance Italian economy.
These new provisions has been inspired by the successful experience of other States such as Great Britain, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Malta and Monaco with the regime of “resident non-domiciled individuals”.
Flat tax of Euro 100,000 per year for the head of the family.
Flat tax of Euro 25,000 per year for direct relatives.
Irrespective of global revenues.
Inheritance tax of 4% on Italian Assets.
Exemption on inheritance tax for assets and rights located outside Italy.
